Does anyone know if the inverted fuel filter housing on a 2000 international dt466e has a screen in bottom of housing ? And if so is bowl at bottom spin off to be able to replace screen if it has one?
There is a screen filter further back towards the firewall. Blue slotted cannister. Unscrew that rascal, clean and inspect for damage, put her back together and you're good to go.
Don't see anything as described, this was a penske rental truck converted to a dump truck, you able to shoot a pic of what it might look like? Thanks for reply
This is housing system
That fuel pro takes the place of the rock strainer. The red know on the bottom is for fuel/water drain. That's it. Spin new cartridge on when you're due. Nice set up.
Having put new injectors, new navistar icp and ipr and new hpop and still no start even with spray in air cleaner, any thoughts on what's next?
Step one, got oil pressure? Step 2 do you have cam and crank signal? Is your tach moving? Step 3 you sprayed a modern diesel? Step 3 unplug the IPR, it causes the HPOP to send full oil to the injector control rail. Make absolutely sure your batteries are strong and you have them on boost. Step 4 CRANK that poor engine for extended times. Be cautious you don't smoke your starter. You'll hear a difference in sound when she's getting ready to fire. You'll hear something similar to a cackle. Once she fires up, plug the IPR back in while she's running. Then make sure you have no leaks and take her for a good 25 mile stretch, load the snot out of it. Let us know how you make out. Good luck
Thank you will give it a whirl, when cranking pressure comes up to 50psi, didn't notice tach, only sprayed with brake cleaner not starting fluid or either, batteries seem strong not old, will jumping off a duramax for 1/2 hour help?
You just don't want to let your voltage drop. Low voltage is what kills starters.
If its not lighting off with flammable brake cleaner being sprayed in there I think you might have some internal issues.
I should unplug IPR or ICP and try and start?
Unplug IPR, that gives full pressure to oil galley.
Thank you headed over to give a try.
Taking batteries on and putting charge on them, showing 84%, tried jumping off duramax but still no luck ipr unplugged.
Are you hearing the change?
Off the IPR, and HPOP there's a braided line going up to the head, make sure you got oil coming out of that hose.
Didn't hear change, will check line after charge batteries and try again, thanks for all help. I do have a international mobile mechanic coming out tomorrow but was hoping to not throw ore $ at problem and not have fixed
Did it run prior? Do you have a pulse from cam and crank sensors?
Started 1st of July, was dumping a load and died on me. Had mechanic come out 1st mechanic said icp pressure so changed icp, didn't help next time came out said thought might be ipr so picked up aftermarket ipr, mechanic came out his "pro something" diagnostic tool not linking up, put ipr in hoping was problematic, didn't help.At this point it was running sounded good till warmed up then 333 code comes up. Called international mechanic, came out put guage on hpop was getting g 4000 psi so he said was injectors, had new injectors put in. Pulled 333 code and into limpmode, put in navistar ipc and ipr would still running sounding good till warmed up then pulls code a d misses and eventually dies. Internationalechanic again hooked guage to hpop and got reedi g of 500 psi on both diagnostic tool and guage. Took guage off and then wouldn't start. Replaced remanufacutured hpop and still no start. Mechanic going g to check hpop tomorrow and try to get started if I can't today. Only runs 2 batteries with 950 cranking psi each 1st one on charged was 85% haven't put 2nd one on charger yet, would both batteries at 85% cause no start?
If you have good cranking rpm and good ICP, I have to suspect the cam / crank sensors. Inside the battery box, iirc, there should be a pair of fuse holders. Check those fuses. Are you able to retrieve flash codes from the dash?
yes code 333 comes up and 335, mechanic said 335 common after hpop change, when cranking oil pressure comes up to 50 but tack only to about 500
So, let's get to basics . I don't know where you are in understanding theses HEUIs. They need 3 things to fire. #1 fuel, #2 high pressure oil, #3 a signal to fire. Your lube oil fills a reservoir in the timing case which acts as a feed for the HPOP. The HPOP is simply a gear pump that takes low pressure high volume oil and converts it to high pressure low volume. That oil flow is controlled by the ICP regulator. The oil leaves the pump and fills the steel rail on the side of the head. The sensor on the rail tells the computer which controls the IPR valve. If, ... if the injector is not properly sealed, it could leak to the return oil. It only takes one bad seal to dump all your rail pressure. You'll know when the rail is full because you'll hear that definite change in tone. I'm assuming fuel isn't an issue, you're not generating a low fuel pressure code. Cam and crank are tricky. Sometimes you'll get a "bad correlation" code, sometimes one or the other will code, sometimes you won't get either. That's where a good code reader with live data is so helpful, so you can see the values that the computer sees.
Thanks for all help, hopefully mechanic can get it up and running tomorrow, what I'm afraid of the mechanic that did the injectors had left valve cover, turbo opening uncovered for a few days. I asked him why wasn't covered and his response was that he cleans it all out before putting back together. The first injectors he got were wrong so Sent back and apparently left openings not covered with towel, plastic etc.
Did he at least throw the valve cover over the top? A rag with a zip-tie over the intake would have been sufficient. Even 3rd world rebuilders that work in flop-flops take care not to let trash in an open engine.
Nope to either
SMH furiously
Will a 5000 psi gauge be all I need to check hpop? I see ace has one for like $20
I believe so, max oil pressure is like 2250 iirc.
Only T into the circuit, do not deadhead the pump into a gauge.
Thanks, mechanic when he today off first time when he concluded my injectors were bad he said it was putting out 4000psi, could it be that high?
And thank you for all your expertise and help
If the IPR was unplugged, sure
My knowledge is 20 years old, dusty and full of cobwebs from when that technology was new. But you're welcome to what's left.
Hollers over to momma, " get the broom, we gotta know down some cobwebs"
Truck up and running, turned out after putting hpop in a d no start found the new ipr harness crimps were not good. Thanks again for all insight and help
That should have thrown an error for open circuit of ipr. Glad you're up and running.
