Is the Cat 248 (non B) high flow only?

Unlike the 248b I do not see a high flow toggle switch on the 248 or any mention of standard vs high flow. Is the 248 always running high pressure/ high flow to the auxillary circuits? Or is it standard flow unless unless it senses a high flow attachment at the auxiliary electrical connection similar to the B series? Or is it high flow to the high flow auxiliary ports and standard flow to the standard flow auxiliary ports just all the time? Anyone know? Concerned about blowing up standard flow attachments. Were there any other major operational differences between the 248 and the 248B?

Right back to the first models ever built, High Flow was (AFAIK) only ever an option on any model of Cat SSL/CTL/MTL machine. It was not standard. A High Flow attachment option is listed for all 248 machines of S/N prefix 6LZ. It is also listed the same way for 248B machines of prefix SCL. Therefore to know whether a specific machine was originally built with HF requires the Serial Number to check the build records. This will of course not show up any machine that was retrofitted with HF after it left the factory.

The caterpillar 228 and 248 were only produced in high flow. They were the high flow versions of the 226 and 246. They are somewhat funny looking with their massive high flow hoses arching high into the air where they could be ripped off or damaged. It was caterpillars first try at high flow machines I believe and they quickly eliminated that style with the release of the B models. To my knowledge the be model also add a standard flow/ high flow switch... Clearly allowing standard flow implements to be used. Unquestionably the 248 is high flow with dedicated high flow couplers in addition to standard flow couplers. My question is what's happening at the standard flow couplers as 33gpm/ 4200psi is the only auxiliary hydraulic specification provided for the 248 I can find.
