My neighbor just bought a 1990 model JCB 214 backhoe. He needs to change over the hoe valves from SAE/Cat controls to Deere controls. Does anyone know how to do this, is it swapping all the hoses on the valve bank, or??
Disregard guys, Today, we swa[pped two lines each side, and walla, instant Deere control vs SAE?CAT. Actually was real easy to accomplish and took 15 minutes to do.
if the valve has port reliefs make sure you swap them also to. boom and crowd cylinders usually have different port relief settings. I get calls all the time about diging performance and often the problem is control patterns changed by rerouting hoses from the valve. more to it than just a hose swap.
maybe you can pm me or send an e-mail direct to [email protected] .. We changed the four hoses just off the valve bank. Except for pulling back the left stick, the hoe drifts to the right (when you don't want it to) the rest seems fone. I did a dry run with it, inside the garage. Won't be digging outside any time soon. With wind chill, we have been anywhere form 30 to 10 below with avg actual temps at 2 or so below. Even what's left on small snow piles, are frozen solid. I would like to make sure this guy's hoe is set up correctly. ANy help is much appreciated..

Firstly Troopie welcome to the forum, I see english may not be your first language or you may not be used to forum discipline any way typing in capitals is considered "shouting " so one might refrain please. Now the issue at hand you can try disconnecting the pipes and put some compressed air through the cooler.and see what comes out, Has the engine got a viscous fan? if so check it to make sure its drawing the correct amount of air. You might change the filter again, is the one that is on it genuine JCB? I have had issues with filters being similar and fitting a machine but missing a bypass valve or such. When you rebuilt the clutch packs was there sufficient movement in the discs? how were the pistons in the packs? if both are overtight it may cause the sticking in forward gear when the transmission heats up.Have you checked the brakes and the hand brake? Make sure the fins on the oil cooler aren't blocked or damaged.
