Hi All, Thank you for this forum, We have a JCB 550 Telehandler. Problem is we need to know which Solenoids select which gears. I have read somewhere else on this Forum but it is not completely what I need, but it gave me a good indication. hope somebody can help. Regards Deon
Can you give serial number.
Hi, thank you for your response, here is the machine serial no: Slp550ba2e0786225 thank you deon
Hi The solenoids if power shift should have 6 in total some will have an ecu ontop of them bolted to a frame do over tighten the bolts as this damages the ecu. What is you problem with the machine?
Hi JCB Jeff, The machine is currently being repaired, Well it's been in the workshop more than a year, and we had several mechanics looking at it. Some "Wiring specialists" as well. So you can imagine what the wiring look like, some has been cut off, taken out, others add, but nobody seem to know what they do. Mechanically the machine is fine now, the complete motor was redone. Just the wiring is a mess. The gearbox solenoids seem to be sorted out now, Can you perhaps give me a drawing of the steering column wiring where gear shifting is done. I opened it and I found 1 of the micro switches(selecting front is stuck). The gear selector has got 2 black wires - hooter, blue and white 1 st gear, blue and green 2nd gear, blue and grey 4th gear. Blue and yellow as well as yellow and gray seems to be 3rd gear, Confusing me... Regards Deon
The manual will not give the internal colour of the switch its self but if you supply me with the wire numbers from the plug going to the switch I can sort something for you. The micro switches were always a problem causing not start or no directional travel usually one way only.
Hi, Jeff that wires does not exist anymore. been cut an joined and changed.....Prevouisly the complete switch was changed. was also problematic an was not fixed at the time. Will keep you up to date.. Thanks for all the help until now.
If you cut the sleeve on the wire harness back JCB number there wires all the way down the wire every 200 mm or so if you can do that I can tell you what needs to go where possible.
Hi Jcb Jeff, Thank you for all your advice until now. We managed to get the gears sorted out now. Can you perhaps help me with the other 3 solenoids down at the bottom back of the machine.? It seem to be the Outriggers and one for the leveling system. Which ones is use for the outriggers etc. do you perhaps have a diagram also where the wires should go? tks Deon
The sway control or leveling as you call it runs of the hyd fan circuit with a divert valve solenoid which is operated by a switch in the cab with two arrows on it . The legs will work all the time until you put them down and raise boom above 15 degrees and there are some magic eye sensors on the boom so you cant have the boom up and lift the legs but on the legs it self you will also have two pressure sensors which if damaged wont allow operation they need to see pressure ie weight of the machine on the legs think its 15 bar to operate switch ,you can pull the plugs off and bridge wire on loom at the pressure switch just to test circuit but dont leave it like it. Im back later so i will dig some wire numbers out if you still need them. Jeff
Hi Jeff, yes i might need them but remember the are not any wires now. The switches on the panel also is out. The machine is in a bad state. Can you send me another copy of the drawing in the manual, similar to the one from the gear box, only these is the ones you mention now. Where is the eye sensors located, or rather where should it be? Tks Deon
Deon Think this is what you are after dont think yours will have boom switch if there was it would be cab side just forward of the main pivot pin from memory.
