JCB rocks up with new cutter attachment ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The new JCB Rockwheel hydraulic cutter joins the company’s extensive attachments range providing earthmoving and demolition contractors with a highly versatile and productive new tool for tasks including trenching, scabbling, quarrying, tunnelling, scaling and demolition. Following positive feedback when previewed at SED, the Rockwheel is now in full production. It is available in three different size variants – the RW40, RW50 and RW100 – and is compatible with JCB’s midi and tracked excavator models from 6 to 26 tonnes. It can also be used with JCB’s flagship 3CX and 4CX backhoe loaders. An alternative tool for typical excavator applications, the new JCB Rockwheel can be used in conjunction with buckets and hydraulic breakers to give even greater on-site functionality. Key features of the Rockwheel range are the accuracy, low noise levels, lower vibration and impressive productivity rates. In certain applications, most notably trenching, the new attachment gives superior performance when compared to traditional methods. Its design enables accurate profiling in deep trenches, gives greater control when excavating around existing services and can minimise noise in urban environments. Due to the accuracy and smoothness of the surface created, no hand finishing is required and material removed by the Rockwheel can be re-used as backfill. Unlike with the shock loads from hammers - which can cause excessive fracturing of rock and damage to surrounding structures – the Rockwheel’s low vibration levels ensure that the only material affected is the area being directly targeted by the operator. The JCB Rockwheel features a direct drive design, with its high-torque, low speed hydraulic motor mounted in between the two cutting heads - each of which has its own bearing assembly. A high powered motor - selected to suit the hydraulics of the carrier machine - boasts a torque range capable of giving the maximum pick forces. Set up time is also reduced with the range of three models making it easy to match the unit to the excavator or backhoe’s hydraulic power band. The Rockwheel’s own hydraulics are incorporated within the body of the unit. A valve protects the carrier machine and the attachment’s hydraulic motor from potentially costly failures. This valve also eradicates the need for a separate motor drain line - simplifying set up, reducing cost and making it easier to transfer between carrier machines. Thanks to heavy duty seals and bearings, all three variants can operate in arduous conditions and cutting drum replacement is quick and simple. Underwater operation is possible to a depth of 30m for aggregate extraction applications. I came across something simular last year here is a quote from : http://www.websterschaeff.com/cutter_bucket.htm The bottom of the page links to some images of the bucket. I thought it was enteresting how such a simple thing as adding a bucket aroung the cutter made it so much more usefull. A side note the bucket is removable if need be. http://www.terex.co.uk/subcategory.php?cid=11 Check out the pdf files for some good pics and info on the buckets. As terex is thining it's markets in this economy they don't list many of the enteresting things they use to. Which is a shame. Here is a sample for those who aren't fans of ging to links:
