How do you know if your John Deere 550G dozer is a direct drive or has a torque converter. The Product ID No. is TO550GL783906. I need to order parts but I need to know whether direct drive or TC. Thanks for help anyone can give.

    If you have two steering pedals in the middle and a decelerator pedal on the right then it is a torque converter machine. If you have a fourth pedal on the left (inching pedal) then you have a direct drive machine.

    I also have a nitrogen filled accumulator. Does a TC machine use an accumulator?

    No. Only direct drive machines have an accumulator.
