JD 850 C Series II Left track trams reverse when in foward

After starting the dozer, the left track will run in reverse if you hold the controller in forward and in the left position. It will move forward if you don't try to move the left track. After full throttle movement from forward to reverse a few times, you hear a loud "pop" and the track frees up and will operate correctly. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Don't know if this will be much help, but I have a 2007 450j and ran in to some odd track problems and it was a dicky track speed sensor.

That's a good assumption thetabop. However, the only thing that leads me to thing other wise is the "pop" the track makes. Like the drive motor is stuck or something.

Are you holding it all the way left? I'd think the machine should want to counter rotate at that point, so the left track does go reverse. The pop is concerning. Does the machine steer left correctly when you just crack the lever, not steer it all the way left? It might be a track motor not shifting correctly due to contamination. An easy way to rule out a speed sensor is unplug both sensors on the track drive motors. The software will generate a code and stop looking for the sensors. The machine may mistrack a little because the software is no longer compensating, but if it's still pulling hard one direction its a mechanical issue.

Just cracking the lever, no left. The only way it will go left is when you idle the machine up, and tram forwards to backwards in ten or so feet spans until it makes the pop. The machine operates fine then until you turn off the key. Then you have to repeat the forward to reverse until the pop frees it up. Also, if you tram in anything above 1.5 it pulls really bad to the left you gotta favor the right side on the controller to go straight.
