installed jlg heater originally a open cab poor heat replaced thermostat no better heater hoses show 140 with infrared gun engine running around 160-170 with new thermostat any ideas would be appreciated I'm in Canada and its below zero
Heater hoses aren't going to show the true interior temp if the outside is cold. You could wrap them with a rag for a few minutes, then check the temp. One should be closer to 160, and the other should be around 140 if everything is working correctly. If they're both colder, then there's not enough coolant flow, could be a kinked hose, valve partially shut, clogged heater core, maybe even air?
disconnected the hose going to the head plugged it ran the hose I took off into a pail and lots of coolant came out . a few days ago removed the lines at the heater and blew air thru the heater core not plugged. put a 190 degree thermostat ran it but upper rad hose is cold was going to block off part of the rad see if temp comes up
also checked hoses not kinked and checked the electric coolant valve and it is working properly
Diesels by nature, run colder than gas engines. Cover the radiator some to get the heat up.
