Hello, i have a 1995 jlg 45 ha boom and it is having some issues. all the controls on the ground work perfectly. the platform controls work some time and others takes some trickery to get them to work and other times they just dont work at all. i have power coming to the junction rail via the red wire so i know there is power. could the switches be bad maybe? also when i bring the platform down to the ground and let of the control the engine just revs up really high and then goes back to idle. i need some help. please and thank you.
Welcome to HEF Giggleeboosh. :drinkup It's going to require some troubleshooting on your part, but first of all, on the gas or diesel models, if it's wired properly, the red wire on the 12/4 cable going to platform should only go to the signal horn. The power for platform ignition and operations should be the orange wire on terminal 34 at platform. From there it goes to the e-stop switch, then to the circuit breaker to power all platform functions. If all the functions, proportional and toggle switch functions seem to come and go, first make sure the orange wire is constantly sending power to the circuit breaker at the platform and that the breaker isn't tripping, a simple test light hooked to this circuit while operating will verify this. If this all checks good, you might have a problem with the foot switch, the red wire from the foot switch sends power to terminal 37 when it's depressed to provide power to platform functions other than ignition. Monitor power on terminal 37 the same way you checked the orange wire circuit with a test light. As for the throttle, gas engine or diesel?
Hello willie59, thanks for the info on the wiring i will do that this weekend and let you know, i did test the red wire to make sure there was power and there was but i didnt try that while the machine was running and moving around so ill due that and let you know. and it runs off propane right now but there is a switch to run it off gas.
Just to clarify, there should be a 12/4 cable that goes from ground controls to platform box...4 wires, black, red, blue, and orange. Black wire is ground (earth) circuit, red wire is for signal horn and signal horn only, blue wire sends power back to engine ignition, and orange wire is what powers "all" platform functions, ignition and controls. When you pull the e-stop, you put power on the blue wire going back downstairs for ignition, and you send power to the foot switch. When you depress foot switch, this sends that power to terminal 37 from the foot switch via the red wire "from" the foot switch. All this considers the machine is wired properly.
Crap, digging around in the 45HA manual, is that a Kohler or a Ford engine?
I have the same problem and its a ford gas 40h
my jlg 40ha is giving me similar problem. foot switch is only giving me steering and drive control but without idling up the engine and I can hear a clicking noise coming from control panel on platform. ground controls work fine. any suggestions
Clicking noise when you step on the foot pedal or when you hit a specific controller / switch? You may want to open the upper control box to see if it is the circuit breaker tripping...it could be in the throttle circuit....well, we have to begin somewhere....!
The clicking noise occurs when stepping on foot pedal
