Any JLG 60HA experts hiding in the woods out there? In a recent cold snap (-40ish) the only machine that would start was an old 60HA we had around. They used it and it came back to us with the tower boom leaning outward at a fairly good angle. The tower boom uses a slave/master two cylinder leveling system with an override switch on the back of the ground control panel for manual leveling when it gets out of "attitude". Anyone ever experienced a similar problem on these machines or remember the proceedure for leveling the tower? Problem is it's been so long since I've worked on this machine that I forget how it worked when it was new. Nothing about it in the manual of course. Override switch does nothing except make some pressure relief sounds.
You must be talking about the upright that attaches upper boom to tower boom. I know the tower boom and upper boom has to be below horizontal to use override switch to adjust upright.
Don't forget you have to hold the Upright Level Sensor level when using the override switch. The easiest way is to swap the hoses on the Upright Pivot Cylinder. That way when the Tower Boom is raised, the Upright Pivot Cylinder will retract instead of extending. This will bring the Upright back into the desired perpendicular state. Stop raising the Tower Boom when the Upright is straight up and down. Then swap the hoses back to their original position. This condition usually happened when someone was trying to get the machine unstuck in the snow or mud by extending the Main Boom out while the Platform was on the ground. When you take the cover off the Upright Pivot Assembly to get to the cylinder, you should also see a Level Sensor. If you don't want to do the hose swapping method, the technique to setting the Upright straight up and down is by using the Secret Switch on the back side of the Lower Control Box while holding this Level Sensor in the level position. It is a bit of a stretch for one man to do, but it can be done.
Thanks guys! Great advise as always
Swapping the hoses worked like a charm :woohoo Thanks again
