John Deere 27D stereo help

Mackdaddy69 · 2023-08-08 15:29

Looking for some insight on a stereo/radio install on my 2014 John Deere 27D. It appears to have speakers however just a blank plate and a bracket behind the plate where the radio would be installed. Also on the rear of the top of the cab it looks like it had an antenna at one time that was snapped off. I’d assume there would be some sort of hookup behind the plastic panel for a radio? Anyone know of a radio that would be plug and play other than the extremely expensive John Deere model?

In our Deere 50d (exact same setup) we installed a Sony marine radio. This unit has a shallow depth which is necessary for fit. The factory Deere plug seems proprietary….so I cut factory plug off and soldered/shrink tubed new male plug to fit Sony head unit. Yes there is an antenna plug in the recess below the metal plate. Note: I had to trim the plastic surround slightly. The Sony unit was about $160 cdn. For us a much better price than Deere! Sorry the machine is in a remote location now so I can’t give the model number of the radio. Will get a photo of install next week.

While your excavating, how are you going to hear that gas line spewing with a stereo on?

Good point; however in our situation the nearest gas line is 100km distantsame for any underground services!
