Hi, have a John Deere 490D s/n FF490DSO15966 that drives good forward & reverse.. Boom lift , swing , bucket curl dipper in & out very nicely… The problem is when driving forward or reverse it won’t steer … If you lift up the end & try to steer & rotate the turn table it will steer…. If you lift one side up with the boom the tracks will rotate from slow to fast both sides doesn’t seem like the pins are stuck in the tracks … Don’t have a hydraulic schematic yet to see what’s going on … Does it have a torque mode for drive ? Thanks Rob
If you lift one track up, operate the track on the ground, does the track in the air turn?
Yes , both tracks drive very nice in the air , I had thought if it had set a long time that the tracks were just stiff & not letting it turn …
Not both tracks in the air. Leave one set firmly on the ground with the other side in the air. Operate the side on the ground (do not touch the control for the one in the air). Does the one in the air turn?
Yes , each track will drive in the air both directions ..,
If the one in the air turns while operating the one on the ground, then the center joint (rotary manifold) need to be re-sealed.
I just turned the turn table sideways & put the bucket in the ground & lifted the side & spun the lifted track forward & reverse it didn’t try to pull the excavator in either direction with either side… Thanks
Your moving the wrong track. Get one side up in the air....then drive the track that is still on the ground. You are looking for movement on the track in the air while driving the track on the ground.
You are correct lifted the side then tried driving the track on the ground & the one in the air started to rotate & it did it on both sides .. Would you have a part number for the rotator seal kit ? Thanks Rob
No seal kit for the rotary manifold, need to order individual parts . https://partscatalog.deere.com/jdrc/sidebyside/equipment/17518/referrer/navigation/pgId/3030673 .
