Kenworth t600 eaton 10 speed

Have a 1994 t600 with a 3406b and eaton 10 speed. A driver was rolling backwards and let off the clutch and snapped the drive shaft. After getting it put back together it feels like the transmission is popping when the jake is on or when slowing down at high rpms. It also does it in the high side of reverse. No problems at all when under power or load.

    Popping? Explain that. Drive axle.

Sounds like is under the cab/tranny area. It will do it at higher rpms when free wheeling

Rear drive axle problems can telegraph through the drive shaft. Many a transmission have been removed only to find it was a drive axle issue.

Under a shock load Weak points in transmission to look at-Slightly twisted main shaft splines, front two counter shafts-broken keys on front three gear sets on those counter shafts, synchronizer hub in rear section. Drive axle-broken teeth in power divider, broken teeth on ring & pinion for starters. In that situation of dumping the clutch on a rig rolling backwards all torque lands first at the drive axle.

    Double check drive line phasing.

Cat 3208, there is another black smoker/black oil one I forgot about. Yes, I hate the part about the black oil that seeps into the parts on the sides of your fingers that look like a cracked dry mud flat. Then no matter how you scrub in the sink it is always seeping out of there. Anything white you handle has John Deere sign on it like clean dishes or important papers. After many years I switched to rubber gloves. Still have to clean arms where it got past the gloves but at least the fingers are reasonably clean.
