anyone used one of these babies? i beleive they have a volvo turbo motor?are kobelco asociated with volvo in some way? the hydraulics for the stick/boom seemed under powered unless you nudged a track at the same time....any idea what this problem could be,owner tells me it is an O ring problem and hydraulic bypass issue:beatsme any common faults to look out for on this model? thanks guys

SK 220 Mark III Uh..you better NOT have a Swedish Volvo in that!! Try a 6D-15 Mitsubishi. Ok,,before you get dirty and oily..I am lazy. First..does it walk straight? You are looking for a lazy track. With each track in the air, one at a time,,does each track spin at the same exact or very close RPM. Count revolutions in the air for each track. Not the same? Now your complaints indicate a pump problem. That is a Kawasaki Main pump, both boom and arm are double pump circuits, but if one pump is slow the attachments will act slow, but touching the travel gives it one pump to the travel and one to the attachment for walk and lift. In other words, you changed pumps to the attachment. If you now think main pump..before you go crazy to replace it. Isolate which pump, drain the hydraulic tank pressure, and remove the offending regulator from the pump. DO NOT TOUCH ANY ADJUSTMENT!!!!. Two things now, there will be a small fork coming out of the regulator to the displacement piston in the main pump, it SHOULD have a very small spring preload and NOT be flopping around. Flopping around and the regulator has trash in it and it stuck. Up to you if you think you can clean it, via dissassembly and put it and ALL THE ADJUSTMENTS back EXACTLY as it came apart. This is NOT easy. Ok,,small spring tension? Next, look down into the main pump at the displacement piston that the regulator connects to. There is a yoke that actually connects to the swash plate. If you go to the parts book, you can see that it actually is two parts that are screwed together. That main spool can unscrew Very SLOWLY over the years and now the pump cannot fully stroke. I DO NOT recommend dissassembly of the main pump, again unless you have done it. You can put a LITTLE blue locktite on the threads and coax the threads back to almost tight and it should then stay..I need to cautoin do NOT allow any real quantity of Locktite to float into the main pump!! I think that will head you in the right direction for little cost. Good Luck

thanks Drag1line very informative is it possible that it could be more disastrous than that or is it likely to be as you predicted......just looking at best and worse case, you know, hoping for best but planning for worst

Ak 220 Well, yes, you could have a pump failure, you also have what is called Independent Travel, which allows you to walk and use the attachment without any hydraulic interferance while multi functioning, and something could be stuck in that valve, located near the pump,,but I think you are OK,,,and I am lazy..do the easy things first. At least from your description, I am more inclinded to think pump, but not a failure, or you would have noise and brass in the filters. CNH dealer down "Under" is the local support for Koblco. Best of Luck..."Ya'll"....Sorry, Texas thing!

update.............. well the tracks seem to rotate roughly the same, didn't time the revolutions but one didn't seem noticeably different to the other one, however the owner did say that over long distances it doesn't track exactly straight i will need to study the parts manual to figure out which bits i need to look at mentioned in Drag1line's post there was no area to really try out the digging capacity but it got me thinking,if it is down on hydraulic power, would it be weak at digging or is it simply that it is down on power when you are moving and digging at the same time(like when you need to use the stick to haul yourself up a steep slope???) i also need to consider interstate transport, will it need an oversize float as the guy says that on his mates trailer only half the width of the tracks are on the tray?? furthermore i think this machine has spent most of it's life rockbreaking, supported by the fact the undercarriage looks quite good compared to others i've seen anyway can any aussies suggest someone who is mobile to do a pre purchase report in WA thanks fellas
