Have a early 80's d31 p17. About a month ago it started jerking while moving and then just stopped. engine running fine but would not move. Asked around and was told to change and clean transmission filter. Did this and it worked again long enough for me to get it back to garage then it did same thing again. Thought maybe there was still dirt in filter so I drained and cleaned filter and refilled with new oil. Ran for about 45 minutes and then did same thing. Also a high pitched whine. Let it sit and was able to get back to garage until it refused to move. Let it sit for a day and tried again. Got high pitched whine and refused to move. Let it sit a week and was able to run back and forth for about 25 minutes before I got the jerking and the whine. Am thinking it may be the hydraulic pump. Hate to change oil 5 gallon of oil again. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
