Our D65 has developed a leak on the injector pump out of the throttle shaft .Can it be changed in the field , or does it need to be done by a fuel injection shop ?
If its an inline Denso pump.. Yes & no.. That governor cover has a bushing the thr. shaft rides in. The bushing is sealed w/ an oring in the housing around the outside of the bushing.. THAT CANT be changed w/o taking the gov. apart. The throttle shaft is sealed w/either an oring or rubber seal on the inside of the bushing.. THAT CAN be changed in the field.. Just loosen the 10mm bolt holding the thr. lever on & remove it, the key way and the spacer bushings & dig the seal/oring out & replace. MORE THAN LIKELY its the bushing itself that's turning in the housing & has wallowed the gov hsg. bushing hole out.. Just clean the area rel good w/ brake kleener.. start the engine to see if the leak is coming from the center of the thr. shaft OR the outside of the bushing.. That's gonna require some down time & money.. its gonna take several days to get a cover, new bushings & more than likely, a new throttle shaft. SO do what you gotta do 1st.. THEN pull the pump.. Good luck.
OK , Thank you. Will check it out .With our luck ,it won't be cheap and easy , but can only hope .
