My PC 150-5 is having the following issue: Whenever the engine is running, the crowd cylinder retracts and pushes the dipstick all the way out, even when the pilot control handle is "off". Any thoughts?
Control spool centering spring for the arm circuit has come loose?
Thanks for the idea. We checked the spool valve in the left valve bank first and found it to be OK Going to check the relief valves below before re-assembling. If that doesn't help, we will move on to the right valve bank. Ya gotta love the process of elimination.
Follow the hoses back from the arm cylinder to the valve bank. Where they connect will be the suspect spool.
The valve bank closer to the operator's side of the machine and its associated relief valves showed no problems. The hoses to the crowd cylinder are cross connected to a second valve bank by rigid steel piping. This valve bank is closer to the right side of the machine and is somewhat harder to get at. We will try the same procedure on this second valve bank. Not sure why the hoses are cross connected to the two different valve banks. hevn't seen one like this before.
