Komatsu PC300 IMV/PCV1 error problem.

Hi, we are having an issue with this 300. When the sensor is connected, the machine would not start but as soon as you disconnect it, it would start. When we checked the voltage with the plug disconnected and ignition on, it is about 4.7. While it is still disconnected and we start it, the voltage goes to 10 volts. Is that normal or should it only be at 4.7 volts even when you start?

You are going to have to be a little more specific in your descriptions. What Dash model is your machine? Year of manufacture or something. What sensor are you talking about or are you talking about and harness connector?

It is a PC300-7 I don't know the year of manufacture. The code is CA272 and from googling, it shows IMV/PC1 short or something. It looks like a sensor on the pump. The machine will not start. When we put the ignition on, that code shows up. If we disconnect that same sensor for the code, the machine will start. Connecting a multimeter with the ignition on and connecting it to the female side that comes from the ecm it shows 4.7V but when you turn to start the engine , it goes to 10V.

The code is not in any of my Dash 7 material but is in the PC220-8 book. The issue is with the actuator for the engine fuel pump. The engine apparently has a common rail fuel system. The indication is a fault in the actuator, disconnection or short circuit in the wiring between the engine controller and actuator or a faulty engine controller. The signal is PWM so it is all digital. I have no experience with those engines and control systems so can't help you. You will need a service manual at the least or someone with experience working on these machines with this engine configuration.

Turns out even though that sensor had the same ohms reading as the one we switched it, it wasn't working as it should. Changed it and everything is working as it should.
