Looks like one of my final drives leaks when parked in a certain spot. It looks like its seeping on the outside between the cap and the housing. It has three plugs in it, one of which has to be aligned with a part of the housing to fit. It looks like there is a snap ring holding the cap on. My parts book doesn't show a diagram for the final drive, and my service manual is ordered acne on the way. Can anyone tell me if and or how to get it apart and I assume there is a oring or seal I can replace. I hope my service manual shows up soon lol. Thanks...
Send a PM to member finaldrive, he will likely be able to give you the info you need.
Thank you!
komatsu pc60u-5 final drive leeking hi guys! last week purchased this pc60-5,and one of the hy-dash final drives is leeking oil out the front cover.i think it may be hydraulic oil as when i dissconnected the lines in the back it stopped leeking. how much of a job is it to pull the drive motor apart to replace the shaft seal if that is whats causing it to leek? will any other seals/o-rings need to be done at the same time? what else do i need to look for? there are very fine metalic particals in the oil,is that a big problem?others who i have spoken with have said that thier not aslong as they are not big chunks as if its a bearing that is self distrucking.. any help towards this would be great.
Hi mate, About your PC60 final drive, is your final drive overfull ? if so it may be contaminated with hydraulic oil this can only be caused by a leaking drive motor seal and if this is the case your motor is more than likely stuffed. The high case drain flow (internal motor leakage) is to great and causing a positive pressure in the motor case causing the seal to leak. Recitfy this problem asap to prevent further damage. When replacing your motor please get the technican to check the case drain line from the motor is free from obstruction, this can also cause high case pressure and seal leakage. Hope this helps mate.
