Kubelco 210 DEF or ADBLUE issues

IDJ ยท 2015-02-05 17:39

Have a 2014 210 Kubelco with ongoing issues with the DEF system. Codes include poor Quality Def, And currently DEF injection Failure. Dealer has repaired 6 times and can not seem to fix issue. One common issue is after we add def at start of day we get poor quality def warning. Anyone have suggestion? thanx

Not a def machine guy yet but from reading. How old it your def supply, has it been in a control area like heated building. It will freeze and can turn to a crystal which might be your issue thus throwing a code.Might try getting different supply of def to see what happens. If that wasn't the case i would think that it would be a bad sensor acting up,throwing the bad def code. Just a couple guess.Good luck

New DEF supply We use lots in our equipment. Kept in warm shop. Was wondering if ours was the only machine with this issue as our dealer suggested a condo in Florida would solve the problem. just do not use it when it is cold

Are you using a bulk tank for DEF or a pouring from sealed jugs? Bulk tanks and the handling equipment can cause DEF issues, especially if there are any zinc plated fittings in the lines from the tank to the nozzle. Bulk tanks and nozzles stored near petroleum tanks can get contamination. The list of what does not contaminate DEF is a vastly shorter than the list that does. Many metals and forms of plating react with DEF and cause no end to the headaches. Is the DEF tank on the machine contaminated? It takes VERY little oil, grease, fuel oil, etc. to wreak havoc on an SCR system on an engine. If it is contaminated, you are likely looking at replacing the entire system....just say'in' And see above, if you have contamination from metals in your bulk handling system, you are in trouble. Sounds dumb, but have you lost the cap off the DEF tank on the machine and replaced it with something else? An incorrect cap can cause you DEF issues. The system I am most familiar with uses the NOx sensors in the catalyst to determine DEF quality. It doesn't actually measure the quality of the DEF, it determines DEF quality based upon calculated NOx levels. You may have an issue with one of the sensors. Is your tank heater circuit working? The DEF must be warmed when outside temperatures are low. The system should have a grace period before things hit the fan in the SCR system in low temperatures. If the tank is not warming correctly, this could cause a warning. DEF injector failure may just be a crystallized nozzle. But, something has caused the crystallization to happen. You will probably find the problem to be something simple. Maybe not cheap to fix, but simple. Between you and your dealer, you basically need to review everything with the machine to figure out why this one is a problem. I am guessing your other equipment is not having a problem with DEF?

It is looking like a muffler issue either the catalyst or maybe a build up of urea in the muffler from a bad injector. Can a muffler be cleaned?

My only experience with a clogged catalyst was one that was damaged due to a failed turbo seal. In that case, the catalyst was junk due to oil contamination. My guess would be no, since the catalyst itself can be damaged due to rough handling. I am surprised the DEF would crystalize in a catalyst if the catalyst was running correctly. The heat should have cooked it off.

have it disabled and keep quiet

So please explain how to disable all of the software safeguards built into the engine ECU? I would be fascinated to know how successful you have been at getting around all of the sensors, software routines, etc. that are built into these engines.

Find a better dealer lol, these guys are no help, unless they will pay for the condo. :tong

quite easily ,with a laptop , just like the remaps for ecu,s that are available very big business in the uk http://www.ecuflash.co/adblue-removal/

If it's anything like the setup on the case combines there is a small clear filter somewhere between the tank and the injection point. It does not take much to clog it up I know exactly where the filter is on the combines for a reason. "Somebody" left the cap off the tank for a full day of cutting wheat in Idaho 2 years ago and got very familiar with the places that can wheat chaff can get in the def system. Last year "Somebody" left the cap off the diesel tank and surprisingly that was worse and also not me.

I figured that would be your solution.....but, I would not recommend anyone on this side of the pond to get your hopes up. The EPA has mandated some software changes that are different than European regs, the U.S. EPA regs for tampering and willfully changing the engine are ugly. No engine dealer is going to do this. Most of these engines require specialized software to even flash an EPA compliant ECU. And the OP is in Canada, which has adopted US EPA regs. You can argue regs all you want, but under US EPA regs, bankrupting a company with fines or having an individual possibly go to prison is just not worth it......

Unfortunately no, it can not cleaned, but I've only seen them go bad if fuel has been put in the urea tank. Or like BSAA65LB mentioned oil, However if all the other component's in the system are good anything is possible. Has the dealer looked into both the ECU and the DTCU15 to check codes? There are many different codes that can make the red bar show up on the dash.
