I have a 90s chevy that has cab lights that leak. I got a tube of clear silicone adheseve sealer but i have used it before and it dosent seem to last. Is there a better way?
Either make closed cell foam gaskets, or, as I prefer, get a roll of butyl windshield sealer from your auto parts store. That's the stuff that held windshields and such in before urethane adhesives. Butyl windshield sealer is basically uncured rubber with a consistency of used chewing gum. Run a thin strip of it between the lamps and the roof. I use at least two rolls a year around here. Basically, use it as a gasket. To remove the lamps later on, slow steady pressure will allow removal after you remove the lamp screws.
