I really enjoy seeing everyones pictures of line boring, there is some real talent here taking time to show us their trade. Thanks for that. What kind of money is it costing these clients to do these jobs. I have a Hitachi 230 and the bucket pivot at the bottom of the stick is a bit loose. We dont put huge hours on the machine but it is loose enough to anoy me. What ball park figure would you guess to bore it out and put a new pin in.
You may find it just needs new bearings in the stick and a new pin. Those small Hitachi's tend to do a lot of hours before the bores stretch. If the holes are out of tolerance there's around 6 hours to weld and machine the bores and faces on the end of the stick. Not sure what line boring rates are in Canada but here they can range between 100 and 200 an hour depending on experience and what gear he is using. The bucket may need doing as well and there is a days work in that.
