Any feedback on these machines?Have two 5800's,a C2 and a Quantum and also a 345CL but not sure it's a better sewer/water machine than the Link-Belts.
I've ran Case/LBs 460 doing mostly demo and there good hoes IMO, but I hear the resale isn't that good. We had some problems with rollers and the hyd coolers leaking.
I would also like to hear more about the 460 lx.
link belt, Hmmmmm, bought a new 330lx in 2005 multi purpose machine thumb coupler and all that, even ran a hammer a little. replaced a 235 cat the difference in the fuel economy made the payments though that isn't saying much. first 7000 hrs, a couple top roller failures which was probably operators leaving mud packed in the undercarriage, broken track recoil spring which was probably the same, and the ducts came apart in the cab for the a/c heater vents other than that absolutely no problems except conditions/operator misuse problems. the Hendricks quick coupler was always being welded on and the mount for the thumb cylinder was never installed correctly and had to be welded on about every season....in the northwest we have tons of link belt support because they are very popular in forestry. one local contractor purchased a new 460lx about 2005 and they still have it around quite possibly the only machine from that vintage they have around...my vote is yes but I don't have direct experience with the 460lx...as far as resale that is true but in 2005 we paid 254,000 for a brand new one complete with progressive thumb, hydro quick coupler, aux hydros, and three buckets, the deere quoted at 293,000 and that was same specs with two less buckets, and year old cat 330's were over 300k at that time......so resale is all relative to purchase price also, its all about cost per unit (dirt moved) not purchase price and not resale value.....TIO
Since my last post ran a few more LBs 330s, 460s and they just must have cheap undercarriages. Cracked idlers, bad top, broken springs too. But like above must of them hwere is the 6k-7k hrs range. We did have top rollers fail on newer iron though that was back in 04 or so though.
