Hello , looking for any input or helpful information for this problem we have with our 966G . This loader just had a rebuild from Caterpillar shop - Toromont . Previously the machine went down and I do believe I posted about that on here as well . She was locked up pretty good . Anyways it had the same issue - a low oil pressure alarm and now after a rebuild we have the identical issue . The alarm would come on the off and it would do this frequently. Then it wouldn’t come back on for a month or more . Then when we ended up getting the largest snow storm on Good Friday and it was needed to plow the alarm came on - and it will not stop . Got it into the shop and changed oil , cut the filter open going to send in an oil sample … called Caterpillar they directed us to the oil pressure relief valve. I will post photo and more tomorrow. The one I post tonight is the one cat told us to check . My son also checked pressures . One pressure was at 30 on one of the ports the other pressure was over 100 . Anyways . We sleep on it tonite . I also seen a post on a 320L that made me think -hey I’m posting this on HEF Thanks for anyone that wants to chime in , J
Question ,The spring ….the shaft is not bent but the spring and also the other springs have the same curve . Is this normal
A spring looking like that is not normal there should be a spec for free length of spring and a spec for spring pressure at a certain length your cat dealer should be able to give you the specs and if they rebuilt it we would be having a discussion
Check the dates people!
Maybe it has been sitting all this time and no one got to it to fix. Some don't answer back. We may never know. Simon C
Hi i work on this same machine and we resolved this issue last year. What ended up being the issue is someone had previously done electrical repair on this unit prior to us owning the machine, the mechanical aspect we had replaced all springs and the plastic retainer as well however this did not remedy the situation. so into the electrical we dove. funny enough the only code we had come up for the machine was for the atmospheric pressure sensor, ended up replacing the atmospheric sensor and as well as patch up some wires that where very poorly repaired (taped together) and the situation has been remedied ever since. Unsure of why this fixed the situation but it did happen to for some reason. Every wire from the ecm checked out except for those ones. which to me i still find strange but it has been fixed ever since and hasn't skipped a beat now for quite some time
