I'm looking to get a set of manhole chains, but i have know idea where to get them and what kind of set up to get. anybody out there give me some in put as to where to pick up a set and the setup please?
What are you looking to do with them? What size manhole are you dealing with? These things matter, the more info we have the better the advice we can give you.
Sounds like you're looking for a bucket of steam. :falldownlaugh
Hey, jperfect. I use a 3 leg chain with pins on 2 of the hooks I will take a pic of them on Friday and post it here. If you need them NOW go to your Manhole supplier and see what they have or where they get theres ??
do you have the external mushroom pins, or the internal locking receiver on your precast manholes?
Here is the pic of my manhole chains, as you can tell they have not been used in a couple years. There a some NEW styles out there but i have not need to set any manholes for awhile so have not look for a set yet.
Whenever I see those pins on a 580 Case I am reminded how easy they will flip with a load on the front bucket when you turn the the steering wheels too far to the side.Of course you already know that ).Ron G
what kind of lift do you have on your manholes? door knobs on the outside, insert and turn keys, or inset anchors on the inside? how much does your manhole weight? are they standard manholes of four or five feet or are they concrete vaults? i lift a lot of vaults and went to our local rigging store. i bought tagged and rated overhead lifting chains. i have a three legged sling with a big oval loop for the machine and is attached with a clevis. the three legs each have large slip hooks with safety latches. it works pretty good for all three types of lifting devices. the cost was about $500 if i remember right. they are rated for about 25000 lbs.
Since man holes are so heavy you learn real quik how to move them around. Once you learn how to move them around you dont really need chains. Unless your talking a goofy town design or large vault lids I dont think theres a need for them.
This is very interesting. What kind of OSHA approved device do you use to place the structures that will pass muster to all the regulatory agencies that might have a say in the way you conduct your operation that is under their control?Ron G
how do you set one section on top of the other without destroying your joint, joint ram-neck seal, or o-ring? take a pic please, i'm interested in how you do that.
I thought your talking aboot the casting. We dont man handle barrel sections .
that tripod things looks like it is for lowering a man into a manhole not for lower the manhole into the hole. Moderator Addition - rshackleford is referring to a post that was removed as spam. Sorry for the confusion.
i am pretty sure the op is looking for a way to move manholes, the item for sale is clearly a device to safely lower a man into a manhole.
Jperfect, JDE/AIS usually has a few in stock. You may also check with your barrel supplier, they may have something. Your other option is to look for a rigging supply house in your area, they will have, or will be able to build what you are looking for.
