1993 416 cat backhoe. Water in hydraulics through arm seal. Milky and overfilled rezivoir . Noticed soon only drove 10 minutes no work done. New owner also first time big machine owner. Where are filters do I need to flush and if so how? Can you help?

    The first thing to do is get the leak fixed. If there is a lot of water in the hydraulic oil, the machine should not be run until a complete system flush is done.

    Flushing hydraulics marge Thanks for your reply! Yea seal is being replaced. To flush system? How? Filters where?

    First thing is do you have an Operation & Maintenance Manual (O&MM)..? If not I suggest you go here https://servicemanualpro.com/ and plug in your Serial Number. A paper manual will be about $45, one on CD about $35 and believe me it will be the best money you've ever spent ........

    Here is a link to a thread with detailed information on flushing a tractor/loader/backhoe hydraulic system. It is not an easy task and you will need a lot of hydraulic oil before you start. HeavyEquipmentForums
