Hello everyone. The CAT 302.4D excavator with the LJN prefix is presumably equipped with a Yanmar engine. The problem is that fuel is leaking into the oil, and the oil level has risen. Any ideas on the weak point of these Yanmar engines? And what is the most likely source of fuel leakage into the oil?
Does it knock when it’s first started after sitting all night? Any excessive smoke on start up or while running?
We removed the injectors and fuel pump for testing. We checked the injectors, and one of the three was leaking fuel. The pump hasn't been tested yet.
Good find on that leaky injector. I'd still go ahead and get the pump tested while you've got everything apart. It saves you from pulling it all back out later if the pump turns out to be part of the problem, too. Keep us posted on the pump results!
