You need to be talking to our resident Morooka expert (I think) - look up a member on HEF by the name of lantraxco ........

  2. #2lantraxco2015-10-13 16:44

Speak of the devil.... Not an expert, lol... just an old dude with a weird hobby. Never seen or heard of a production Morooka with a mulcher, nor the MM model. If you can get me pictures or a web link, I will email my spies in Japan and see what I can find out for you. Serial number? I'd love to see it, saw some that had tree spades mounted on them once. They make Ag tractors, loaders, forklifts, log forwarders, tracked mobile tub grinders, etc. but their main line is the dumper/carrier models (MST) Found one picture, looks like a modified MK tractor: Cheers, Lanway

  3. #3whimik2015-10-13 18:25

Looks very similar. This one does not have the cab protection. The rear cooler looks the same as well as the reversed cab so the seating position is toward the 3ph. Has no pto just hydraulics. Model is MM70 Serial 70015 Can grab a few pics in a a few days. Machine has a blueberry picker on it at the moment but the flail head is with it.

  4. #4lantraxco2015-10-13 18:42

70015, so number 15 in the production series. Interesting! I'll see what I can find out about these.

  5. #5whimik2015-10-19 08:52

    Here are a few photos

  6. #6lantraxco2015-10-19 10:49

Interesting. No feedback yet. Looks to be a modified MK series chassis, and the MK's are almost impossible to get parts for, so... Anything in particular you're looking for, other than manuals which probably were never written, to be honest?

  7. #7whimik2015-10-19 11:02

Bottom rollers? AMybe the same as another machine?

  8. #8whimik2015-11-25 10:20

So I guess not much luck probably in finding anything out lantraxco?

  9. #9lantraxco2015-11-25 12:18

Struck out across the board. Was waiting to hear back from a guy that I knew still worked at the factory, but either his email has changed or he's ignoring me. Sorry, but that's not uncommon with Morooka, unfortunately.

  10. #10whimik2015-11-25 12:30

I appreciate you checking that out. I have found nothing anywhere for parts for that machine.

  11. #11lantraxco2015-11-25 14:32

It's one of those deals where if it wasn't a critical use kind of thing you could always find, make, or substitute something to get it back up and running. Still, not very confidence inspiring.

  12. #12mitch5042015-11-25 22:23

My first thought when I saw the title of this thread: "Wow, Lanway is going to be thrilled they've developed this!!! Now, when he gets an uncooperative one, he can just drop it in and mulch it!"

  13. #13lantraxco2015-11-26 02:40

LOL.... they have a crusher line that's current, what we would call a portable tub grinder I think... more suited for scrapping of failed models perhaps. Before the Japanese bubble burst in the mid 90's they were full tilt boogie and borrowing money at near zero interest. Morooka had a large factory I think on Hokkaido that was just for building their Ag tractors, and apparently this machine and possibly a few more. By the time I got involved in 2004, they still owned this huge empty building, but there were only two employees there, sort of field service and parts support, in one room with all the records in filing cabinets. Their main office building and factory for dumpers was down South close to Tokyo, something like seven stories of admin building and a large factory layout. By the time I left in late 2007 they had sold both and moved into a smaller property which had formerly been an eel restaurant. Yuck. They have since recovered well and built a large modern factory in the same area. During both of these moves, tons of records and drawings were simply thrown away as they were considered obsolete. They also lost or retired out many of the most experienced workers along with their product knowledge. Typical Japanese operation. Still, it makes life interesting. Man's got to have a hobby you know?

Pto New to the site so please bear with me. Have just purchased a mk80 marooka and the pto grinds on engagement. Firstly is there a procedure for engaging it,there's a pull switch which turns a light on the dash and the lever on right hand side of dash which you either push forward or pull back depending on what rpm required. Have been searching on the net for days for a operators manual but reading above posts my luck might be out. Regards

  15. #15lantraxco2016-10-14 01:31

Something in a manual might turn up. Best guess would be make sure the switch is off for a bit, then select the rpm and turn the switch on. The drives are full hydrostat, I have no idea how the PTO is driven. There are variations within the model, some according to model year, some simply due to a variety of options. Even when Morooka still supported them you had to have an exact serial number to get parts and even then sometimes they weren't correct. Kind of like a Freightliner, each serial number had a build sheet showing which components it had when it left the factory.

  16. #16farmerjo2016-10-14 01:51

Thanks for your prompt response. I will keep looking for a manual and explore the machine further when it turns up in a couple of days time.

  17. #17farmerjo2016-10-18 08:42

tracks Picked up my Morooka mk80. The pto is driven by a transfer case off engine to a camden shaft to the pto shaft. I have sent picture of instructions in the cab to japan for translation. Where i need advice is with the tracks as i'm not very familiar with track machines. There seems to be a lot of play on the rear end in i guess you would call the tensioners. Any idea's on how to stiffen up the play and how they work in principle.

  18. #18lantraxco2016-10-18 12:00

The famous Morooka droop. It almost looks like the tracks are too long, but then I don't have a listing for the MK80 track size, I list the 70 and 100..... Typical fix in the dumper world (MST) is just lift the idler up, slip some suitable flat bar in under the idler yoke there and weld across the front underneath. Crude but effective. They're loose from the factory, no wear plates or anything, just steel on steel. There's a recoil spring laying loose inside that idler yoke tube, and a hydraulic cylinder comes in from behind with a flat plate on the end to push on the spring, if it's built like all the dumpers.

  19. #19Wankel162016-10-18 14:16

Hi. I have a operator manual of a Mitsubishi MKM 70 in japanese. I'm searching for a manual parts of these tractors

  20. #20farmerjo2016-10-19 09:08

Thanks for the advice(much appreciated),went to town and got some steel today. @ Wankel,My guess is parts manuals would be harder to source. I'm in Thailand and as far as i know i'm the only one here with a Morooka.Swore after importing a Ford tractor here from Europe and having to modify Thai style i would buy local products with parts backup. Being a slow learner the Morooka will need a lot of improvisation for parts along the way.Being a hobby farmer,i'm up for the challenge at this stage. How long have you had your MKM70?

  21. #21Wankel162016-10-19 13:57

Hi farmerjo. Sorry for my poor english. I'm from Spain. I have bought this mkm70 a month ago. It still stopped about five years, out on the field. I try find a book of parts for this, for learn about the hydraulic and mechanic parts. And yes, is very dificult to find spares for this unit. The probem of my mkm is an hydrostatic pump (an uchida-rexroth a10vg43hw), it's without the rear part of the case and have no spare for this. Is an obsolete unit, no build and no other pump for replace, only try to copy the piece or adapt an rexroth a10vg45. The rest of the machine is in perfect condition with 2000 hours.

  22. #22farmerjo2016-10-20 04:22

Sounds like you should get a decent run out of it when you solve the pump. Any parts i can cross reference i will post here.My Morooka needs a bit of love to get it reliable but then should be ok. Welded some plates in the yokes today which has stopped the 3 point implements rubbing on the tracks. And i am ordering a tachometer/hourmeter of ebay as it's broken.(cannot find any 24 volt ones in thailand (which is hard to believe with all the trucks and buses here). Also getting off ebay a 24 volt to 12 volt cigarette converter for my trimble gps i use for spraying. Once they are sorted i'm operational. The next major problem is the drive sprockets are well worn and need replacing.14 teeth,150mm pitch,15 bolt holes to secure it,385mmcentre to go over the hub and approximately 700mm overall diameter tooth end to tooth end.I have spent 4 hours on net today looking for them or something similar with no luck. Other than that it's pretty tidy and my first tractor with airconditioning. I'm Australian by the way but have lived in Thailand for 13 years growing maize, sunn hemp and about to try some pumkins and watermelons.

  23. #23lantraxco2016-10-20 11:38

I doubt you will find those sprockets, though you never know. Best bet would be to either weld the old ones up, or have some new ones cut out of plate, not sure how easy that would be to get done where you are.

  24. #24Wankel162016-10-20 13:18

Hi. And the sprockets not be posible refill the wear parts? Is fundition, maybe difficult. The tacho of 12v with a relay (for supply with 24v at start) can be used. My unit have a direct wires from one unit battery but i dont know for what is it. And at the left side of the dashboard of my mkm have a 24v to 12v conversor for the microcontrol of the hydraulik lift, if the gps are low comsuption. Thanks for the help. The friend lantraxco is asking for the uchida-rexroth for the mine but is very difficult find it. I see that is the same system and pumps than the Morooka MST-500 dumper.

  25. #25lantraxco2016-10-20 15:45

Apologies I had not noticed that, you are correct the same model pump it seems was used in the single speed 500's. That may make it easier as the 500 here is not a popular machine, may be able to find one that is being dismantled.

  26. #26Plebeian2016-10-20 20:53

Farmjo - if you cannot find your Morooka sprockets locally, you might have ask Sunset Equipment (Morooka agents, Australia) or track firms like http://www.qtrack.com.au/ in Brisbane, Australia.

  27. #27farmerjo2016-10-21 08:44

Thanks guys for the suggestions. Used Wankel 's advice and hooked up gps to converter, works well. Did a bit of a drawing on the drive sprockets, the easiest option here will be to find a profile cutter and have pieces made to weld on and build up the sprockets. Next question, there seems to be a lot of heat on the engine and airconditioner drive belts and when the revs go up the aircond makes a noise(slipping)even thou i have plenty of tension. They are A section belts,i put a B section belt on the spare alternator pulley and seemed a better fit.Should they be A or B section? Regards

  28. #28lantraxco2016-10-21 11:38

Common sense rule is the belt should ride above the top of the pulley by about an 1/8" when new..... does that have a Cummins engine?

  29. #29farmerjo2016-10-21 19:23

Agreed. No this a real oddball, has a Hino engine in it.

  30. #30lantraxco2016-10-21 20:16

Nope, nothing oddball about that, Morooka has always used the "What have we got in the warehouse" method of engine selection or so it seems, the exception of course being the machines built for Komatsu, they always seem to have Kommie engines which was usually a good thing.

  31. #31farmerjo2016-10-21 23:36

So how would i find out what model Hino engines Morooka used,i can't find any numbers on the engine to match anything up. Found the problem with the v-belts,the twin pulley on the crankshaft. The inner sheave which drives the fan and alternator is spinning. Lucky i found it as it had moved right back and was eating into the engine housing so going to weld it up short term till can source one. Oh boy, can't be to much left after this i hope.

  32. #32farmerjo2017-01-22 21:07

Hi Plebeian, Was wondering if you know of anyone who has had anything to do with these machines. Had it 3 months and still hesitant to use it till i find out how and what revelance the pto switch has? Whether it diverts more oil when pto is running or maybe for the extra remotes at back of machine. Had Morooka Japan send an operators manual in Japanese but somehow my wife misplaced it before i could get translations done. Regards Steve

  33. #33Plebeian2017-01-23 00:41

There have only been a few Morooka 'tractor ' (pto, linkage arms) type machines in NZ. Matco have likely had something to do with them, or might be able to direct you people who have run these machines. http://www.matco.co.nz/ There are a few running tracked machines in NZ that often have been modified into a more heavy duty configuration. http://www.landprep.co.nz/Home.aspx It is necessary to know that good components and matching them up.

  34. #34farmerjo2017-01-23 05:49

    Thank you.much appreciated.

  35. #35Wankel162017-08-21 18:30

Good evening. And now, i have another problem with my morooka mk (mitsubishi mkm). The silentblocks of the drive train. They was good look but when i run few meters the material crack and fall. Atach an images. Looks like poliurethane but i dont know the shore of the material for buy it

  36. #36Plebeian2017-08-21 19:03

You might try the UK. Their uhmwpe sheet might be useful. http://www.cautrac.com/equipment/tracked-dumper-parts/

  37. #37farmerjo2017-08-30 08:39

An update on my machine. Have done mods for local weather and farming conditions to radiator and a/c(turned fan 180 degress) shrouds, also went back to manual tension on the tracks. Being a novice with rubber tracks i either screwed them up pretty quick by not cleaning often enough, broken spring tensioners or they sat in the dealers yard to long.Have had to bolt some plates and looks like the internal wire is holding them together in a few areas. Since my track sprockets and pitch tracks are obsolete i think i could go to mk or mkm-70 running gear. But i need to know if the drive hub is the same size diameter, anyone know?My hub diameter is 320mm. Before i said it was 385mm but that must have been hole centres. If i can't find a solution with rubber tracks i will take it to town when they fail and get it converted to steel tracks with ready available spare parts.(cat or komatsu) I do love the machine for it's versatility.

  38. #38Plebeian2017-08-30 17:27

See if Yonggu, Hangzhou have any rubber tracks that are close to what you have. http://www.ygrubber.com/doce/gsjj.htm http://www.ygrubber.com/doce/cp16.htm and http://www.maxwaycn.com/english/lxwm.asp Probably need a few more dimensions on the sprockets- bolts (number and size), bolt hole spacing etc. Draw out on paper/ cad etc Berco have 1,100 sprocket configurations. https://www.berco.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/WR432GB00C_CATdisc1.pdf Steel tracks are likely to be a rough ride and the vibrations can cause extra machine issues. Berco track (Bescon, Bngk) have full undercarriage but would be a big $ project. I see New Holland are more directly involved in your area. Hi, new to the site, just bought a mk80 myself and got an issue with the pto engagement on mine. Was wondering if you got yours sorted and if I could pick your brains about it. Thanks

  40. #40farmerjo2021-01-31 02:32

Hi James Well it still makes a slight grind when engaging the cable before applying the pto switch. To eliminate that i just engage cable before starting engine, but that also depends on what implement is being driven by it. I run the engine at 1700 rpm only because that is where it seems smoothest. Done 400 hours since i got it.Had to replace the bearings in one travel motor recently and other than that no drama's till yesterday when i snapped a track. So now trying to figure out how to rejoin it. Sorry for the late reply.

  41. #41lantraxco2021-02-01 21:36

Ah, we all end up back here sooner or later it seems. Rejoining tracks is almost never worth the effort. The rubber rots from age and the sun, the cables are supposed to be a bit corrosion resistant, but moisture gets in and if the rubber is cracked the cables bend more sharply at the cracked points, soon the little wires stop holding hands. From the pictures it looks like 150mm pitch between lug centers? How wide, 450 or 500 maybe? And how many links, 42?

  42. #42farmerjo2021-02-01 22:37

Hi lantraxco Yes 450x150x42 As a hobby farmer i don't really make any money with it,more of a toy. However i would still like to make it mobile, set up with a permanant water pump attached. Thinking outside the box would an old truck axle under the back end and truck rim and tyre over the travel motors still enable it to steer and drive?

  43. #43lantraxco2021-02-02 12:52

To be honest I'm rather horrified at the thought. Seems a lot of time and work for something that might work on hard ground. But to each his own I suppose. I'll see if one of my vendors offers that type track or something close.

  44. #44lantraxco2021-02-02 21:45

This looks like a good replacement, might want to check the dimensions of the guide teeth and the width of the roller run surfaces.

  45. #45lantraxco2021-02-04 12:00

Roughly $800 each ex-works China. Not bad I thought. Let me know if you're interested, I'll send you contact information and introduce you.

  46. #46farmerjo2021-02-07 10:42

Thanks but think i will make a base and park it for now. 30% import duty here plus needing new sprockets as well. Don't get me wrong i love the machine but behind all good men is a woman who knows nothing about machines and convincing her to fix it is hard work when she's given the ok to buy a new tractor even though i don't want new,i'm happy with the old.

  47. #47lantraxco2021-02-07 13:03

They're a wonder ain't they? Women and machines, complete mystery most of the time.
