The operators are probably going to blame the fog for their reason for going into the ditch instead of the real cause that they were trying to race each other
The way the grass is laid over I'd bet the whole area was flooded and they couldn't see where the road was.
They may very well have been driving the equipment to high ground. The water in the swale looks pretty brown and may be receding flood waters.

I would think they where hauling ***. We were racing LinkBelt D30's IIRC at work when the other guy turned he flippd the bed over and I was up on two wheels, I thinks we had 4 or 5 rollover on that job.
