Maybe swap sides or turn them 180 degrees and build up the worn areas with weld??
Keep a closer eye on the free play and remove shims (#2) from the push arm caps sooner....... If it gets to the point where the shims are all gone then replacement weld-on balls (ooh-er missus) are generally available. Either that or replace the trunnion ball assembly #1 complete. With the amount of wear on the trunnion ball visible in your photo you will probably find that the Bearing #9C and the Cap #7 also require replacement. #9C is also weld-on.
