Yeah baby!! That is a dozer there. Good stuff. Do you pull 3 shanks with the 11? I've noticed lots of people only pulling 1, just curious cause all the mine dozers are set up to pull 3 and they do really well.

its just got the two ripper setup, which works good for what we work in some rock but no really big or knarly stuff.when we first start a pit it could use another shank plus 3 feet, but as we get down into the rock sometimes i wish there was only one shank, so i guess it all evens out. here is a pic of what it looks like now.

here are the holes we dig with the 11, we take the topsoil off with scrapers, then the 11 pushes out the rest, the white stuff is the bentonite, which we take out with scrapers then trucks haul it from the piles to the mill, where they package it and ship it world wide.

I like that catwalk around the cab. You should see me climbing over the fuel tank to wash the back windows, hanging off the ripper box!!

637slayer, I've picked up loads of that Bentonite in Wyoming before. It was mined just outside Upton, Wy. IIRC (or that's where the mill I picked it up was atleast) Delivered them out by Allentown, Pa. That wouldn't happen to be the outfit you're working for, is it? Do you know what the main uses are for that bentonite?

Where did you take it to around Allentown. I live about 1 hr from there.

I'm gonna have to dig the map out for that. It was off the NE Ext Pa. turnpike, north of Allentown. Palmerton, I think it was, or a little town right close to Palmerton on 248.

thanx farmerted im really glad i found this place, i like the stories and pictures too, like my signature says when my boss handed me my check i never knew what was gonna happen between then and monday morning, sometimes girls sometimes a fight and jail a few times, wasnt always in the best shape but almost never missed work.them days are gone im a respectable miner now, seems like after a night of drinking im hung over for 2 days.the pictures i took are outside greybull wy, bentonite is big business in north east wy, on up into s. montana. kitty litter, candy bars, cosmetics and alot more. most of ours is used for drill mud and kitty litter.

the other day i got looking around the cab and noticed that the back window had a little bar sticking out on the bottom,so i looked in the manuel and it says to wash theback window by popping out the window, the part that doesnt slide, i guess you pop it out reach around and clean it. i havnt tried it but if you do let me know how it worked.

the uses of bentonite Jeff, Bentonite that I've been around has either been used in a slurry in concrete pumps to get the crete through the pipes, or we mixed pelletized bentonite with sand and contractors used it to waterproof areas.

im sure that there are hundreds of uses for bentonite that i dont know but i should, ive been at it for 3 years now but the mill and office are places i never visit,i see lines of trucks waiting to load everyday at the mill, what kind their loading or where they are going i dont know but im gonna find out someday.
