Need help with Cat 416B

dudeman4066 · 2024-06-25 17:57

Hello looking for some advice. Got a Cat 416B backhoe. I parked it about a month ago in order to remove and have a stabilizer cylinder service. Today after re installing the cylinder I tried to crank the machine. It would turn over and fire up with use of ether and on its on, however the rear throttle lever and the pedal has no effect on the machine. It will not Rev up. It will die out on its on. It will start again but will not run but for just a moment. Any thoughts would be helpful.

I have not worked on the Cat 416B backhoe but what you are describing sounds like there is a linkage that the rear throttle lever and pedal attaches to - consider getting under the machine if blocked up safely and check to make sure that a throttle cable to throttle lever and foot pedal is attached. Have seen these loosen up from vibration that will cause no or erratic functioning. HTH's ~ Orangeman

Can you throttle up machine at governor lever on injection pump?

The shift linkage is connected because it will move the throttle even at the fuel pump. Just will not throttle up.

Delphi or Standadyne injection pump? Maybe the Pump Guy could help you troubleshoot. Pump may have to come off, but I’d wait to see what he has to say.
