Here are some photos of the inside, these are taken from a normal sitting position, not standing or any special position,

This picture and the next one highlight the cab visibility. if the blade was moved toward the cab anymore, the windrow would be going under the back wheel.

I am of average height and weight, this is a very spacious cab where it counts, at each side of me,

Good photos, considering the conditions, Michael. So what were your impressions of the grader. We had a GD 625A, which was the Japanese grader, not the Dresser and we were very impressed with it at the time. How do you think the cab will be in our summers with the extra glass, although it does look like it is tinted. RnR.

Are you sure that was in Australia, by the looks of that sky i would have said Ireland Nice machines by the way!

The weather wasn't the best, the greasy conditions certainly tested the weight balance of the 555-5, l had it moving a very heavy bulky windrow of clay and it handled it well, the front end was very stable, a bit of wheel spin which is understandable. My impression of the machine is I would have one tomorrow if it was possible. It appears to have more glass, but l suppose more in the doors, less in the front windscreen, it may not be as much as it seems? glass is tinted and it has a good air conditioner. sun screen cream may be a good option, cheers.

Yep, definately aussie land, l hope Ireland isn't like that all the time, whats the most popular grader over there?

I never looked at Komato for a grader before I went with my Deere might have to look at them in the future or if we add another one later this winter.

In the picture of the PC78, is that a cylinder on the side of the cab? What is that for?

Grader looks like a mix of H & M series Cats

Hi Gavin84w, that is a fair comment no doubt, is that a good thing or a bad thing. Just for interest sake, check out the photos below of the old komatsu graders and there cab design, l believe they are about 1980 models.

G'day TomG, yes that is a cylinder you can see and I didn't have a close look at that machine so l don't know what it is for. I checked out your video channel, very impressive. That machine is a mighty little unit, it counter weighted some of those larger rocks ok when you extended the boom and dipper, love the clamp setup on it, never seen that setup before, very handy.

I thought it was a cylinder of some sort. Thanks for the compliments on my YouTube channel!! The E50 is quite an impressive machine.

Thanks for posting the pictures. Looks like the cab is very well laid out. Appears to have better forward visibility than the Cat M models. Hopefully some operators will chime in with seat time experience.

mate id be more worried about the transmission overheating than the cab. they run great until you have to tow anything(just ask the remote councils)but all in all a very well put together machine>>>>

Thanks for the info dingo, handy to know. The two earlier model komatsu graders that we run,, gd 530 and gd 555-3 have rollers on them that are pinned to the rippers and lift up when the rippers go up, down here we call them free rollers, they are not tow rollers, both machines have a torque converter as well. haven't had any problems with overheating, but probably would pulling a heavy roller. Temperatures up there would be more constantly hotter than down here to I suppose, cheers.

I believe they added that cylinder for lifting the cab to get to the engine. I will double check at work tomorrow though.
