Good Afternoon All, I’m a 36 year old, full Post 9/11 GI Bill holder, looking for a career change that can keep me in the south East/Georgia area. I was a Seabee in the Navy, and have Ahmad some decent exposure to heavy equipment. Post Navy, I have continually been in the construction field and have also worked a few times with heavy equipment (no more than 45 minutes a few times a year) My first question is, do you know of any reputable equipment operator school that I can use my GI Bill for? And, 2) is it too late for an ex-military, 36 year old guy to get j to the industry? Very Respectfully, k.c.

Once all the 35 and under show up for work, you'll have a hard time getting any job, so it looks like the job market is wide open for the forseeable future The general tone on here is that heavy equipment operating school is not as valuable as on the job experience and common sense. With modern college, the degree means you at least were willing to show up for four years to finish the degree, the heavy equipment degree means you showed up for six weeks.

Never too late. Especially now. Memorize what you wrote on the original post and start making the rounds of construction companies, quarries, gravel pits and any kind of mines that might be in your area. If you are willing to prove yourself on some grunt labor, you will be moved up quickly.
