I'm hoping someone can help with operations and maintenance manuals. 8PB02275 No idea what I'm doing. Already have a leak.
Cat Publication reference SEBU6013 is the basic Operation & Maintenance Manual. It covers all 8PB machines up to S/N 3999. Here's a link to one on eBay . If you want a complete service & repair manual it comes in two parts, SENR5290 (covering disassembly & assembly) and SENR3115 (covering the rest). This eBay one looks to be priced pretty good, new it is over $1000. Not such good deals on SENR5290 HERE and HERE . A new one is priced at $310.
Ordered. Thank you.
Nice looking machine!
Tips and tricks on removing the belly pans. I've seen owners run the machine up on wooden blocks to give you a little more room underneath. Are the pans so heavy I'll need a floor jack?
Depends on size and thickness and how much debris is on the plate. Just for reference 1/4" steel plate is about 10# per sqf. 3/8" 15# per sqft ect.
On a small machine like that running it up on blocks will definitely give you the advantage of more space underneath. You will need some sort of lifting equipment such as a jack to help you manhandle the pans. Expect them to weigh double any estimate because they will likely be full of dirt, and probably the obligatory 9/16" wrench that someone dropped in the past and couldn't be bothered looking for. If your machine happens to have the attachment bottom guards installed the larger one is listed at 170 pounds, the smaller one at 75. The standard guards are shown as 90 & 45 pounds respectively.
I use a motorcycle jack on plywood.
I’ve heard even transmission jacks or even floor jacks are ok for the smaller dozers like this. Once out, folks have added eye-bolts on the guards to help lift the guards back into place with ratchet straps or come-alongs once done. Much easier and safer to lift up and get one bolt started then tighten up more to get other bolts started. Another trick is to use a couple longer bolts to get two corners pinned and then lift higher to get all bolts in. Either way, feel free to be creative. But also be safe and have someone next to you in case there’s an issue when you’re underneath messing with guards. They can be deadly if they slip.
We sometimes used a come along hooked to track pad ran under tractor and hooked on track pad on other side best to take bolts out while you are not under the pan !!
