been in the asphalt business for 33 years so i don't have to advertise anymore, starting my second adventure in life, i bought a kubota u35-4 last spring and am having a hard time keeping it busy. i get work in the summer but the winter is kinda slow, what advertising works for u guys, i do craigslist and facebook and get work doing stumps and small land clearing but not enough....thanks in advance....lower michigan.
If there’s snow on the ground, I wouldn’t think there’s much work around. Could always leave your name with towns and companies for emergency digging (like frozen pipes) as a sub, but it I doubt you’ll get much.
We don't do much in winter, besides snow removal. Too much frost in the ground. Depending on your area, word of mouth is best. We, or rather my employer has been in business since 1945, so they are kind of the go to company. While they keep most of their equipment up to date, the company is not much older than their asphalt plant. There are a few younger companies here that do phone book ads, websites, Facebook and radio spots.Flashy paint jobs can help too. When we start prepping driveways in the spring, the calls start coming in, and I assume it to be because of the black and yellow trucks on the move.
It takes a bit of time, but try the following: Look for excavation contractors that only own/run big machines (may need helps with smaller projects from time to time) plumbing, electrical, drainage companies (trenching work) concrete contractors that don't have their own equipment (removal of old, prep etc.) and the list goes on You get the idea....
