A village north of town has a new ferry dock in the design phase. We were contracted by the engineering firm to drive the test piling so they could finish the design. 4:30am Depart Steaming out of Womens Bay! Off the airport. The runway runs from the waters edge to the foot of the tall mountain on the left. You don't want to over shoot the runway. Nav aid.
Off Kodiak city. Buoy 4. This is a hot spot for Halibut and Salmon. Around the swing buoy! Into the narrows.
The narrows. The village is tucked in on the right side. Spudded down at 8:30 am. Picking up the probe.
10 barge shifts with 8 probes per shift for 80 probes total. Restow barge for travel.
Depart Village at 8:00 pm. Whale escort coming out of the narrows. In the gate. Hang a left to Womens Bay. Home sweet home. All fast at 12:00 midnight! Ya can't say I never ever took you anywhere!
Criuse Not bad for my first ever cruise. Great trip and pictures .Thanks for sharing!!!!!!!!!:notworthy:usa
nice night vision on the last couple pics almost like the sun was out:laugh
Yaa, we have around 20 hours of daylight now.:thumbsup
You're sure making me homesick for Alaska. No place more beautiful and the best people I've met in all of the U.S.
Great pictures! Thanks for the cruise!
Phenomenal as usual........where else could we be treated to such an intimate lesson on how things are done in that environment. No dust, great scenery.........it doesn't get any better!!Thanks again.Ron G
Do the 80 probes just get left stuck where you drove them in? Absolutely amazing scenery BTW.
Hey Wolverine69, The probe was pulled as soon as it hit rock. They time it while driving to see how hard the driving is then record the depth of the driving then we pull it and move to another station. When were done, all thats left is divits in the ocean floor.
awesome pics....must be fun!
That's incredible! Thanks for posting that.
