:beatsmegot an international dump with the 444 engine. its on a job about 40 miles from the shop....long story short when your driving the truck the pedal will suddenly stop working .and the truck will stay at idle for about 10 minutes. then it will work fine for another 20 minutes .then go limp again...im guessing its some sort of saftey feature that brings the motor to an idle if theres a problem...but the oil presure is good. its not over heating and now its starting to do it when the truck is just sitting there waiting to be loaded. the pedal is still moving...but the motor wont respond .one of our mini excavators has a return to idle feature if the temp or oil presures go in the red. trying to figure it out so we can drive it out of there instead of towing it.any way to bypass this? an onsite mech came out and changed some sensors but its still not working. brian
brian, did he replace the throttle position sensor? that would be my first guess.
What is most likely happening is the throttle pedal is worn out at its pivot point and is allowing the pedal to return beyond it self calibrated 0% point when the driver takes his foot off the pedal quickly, the entire pedal will need to be replaced, it comes with the sensor already installed if you get it from your dealer. You can verify this just by pulling up on the throttle pedal by hand slightly, if it stops working for a few minutes the you found your problem.
I would say peddle problem either the TPS (throttle position switch) OR The IVS (idle validation switch)
thanks guys. will look into it on monday. brian
