One Brand of Skid Steer using another brands attachment

DirtCrawler ยท 2015-04-08 22:08

Is there any worries to be had if you own one brand of skid steer and rent say bobcat branded attachments for it or any other branded rental attachment for it. In regards to maybe the different types of oil that may have been run thru the attachment thus mixing with the oil in your machine. Thanks

If you are running a hydraulic powered attachment it should use the same type of oil as in your machine. There is a risk that if there's a problem with the loaner machine's hydraulic system that you'll contaminate the oil in your machine. You may also find the hydraulic couplings are slightly different.

It's similar to sleeping around and picking up STDs...there is a risk. A monogamous relationship between the machine and it's attachments are best for the health of the machine.
