Ive been looking at alot of pictures around this site. ive noticed that some pictures where the hoe is being used that the tires are still touching the ground. im new to using a backhoe, ive just bought my first one. but i usually jack mine up as high as it will go. is this right?
tires should just clear the ground front and rear,,,,jacking it up high put more strain on the hydrulces** cylinder rods of the out riggers. think of angle they go down and how extending them farther down would create greater strain
Depends what your doing. If your removing soil from a ditch and loading it into a dump truck you may need to be as high as possible to get the soil into the dump body without spilling it out of the bucket. If your working on a hill you may need to fully extend one side or the font bucket to be levelled off. Also you may wish to tip the backhoe over to one side so that your hoe bucket will be tipped if your cut needs to be slanted. Generally the lower you sit the more stable you are but there are many reasons to be setting differently depending on what your doing. Sometimes its just to see your work better from the seat.
Couldn't have put it any better than Deon, your outriggers may need to be extended different ways for different tasks. For general work and digging your tires should generally be just off the ground.
