Perkins est diagnosing a Cat c4.4?

Was just wondering if anyone knows if you can diagnose cat c4.4 engine with perkins est 2016? I have tried to hook it but i get a can adapter no connection fault. The can adapter i am using works fine on ** 5455 with perkins tier 3. It is a old agco can adapter. Maybe i need to use an cat et adapter? Sorry for bad english writing..

The best connection to be honest would be to use Caterpillar ET software.

Ok. Was hoping i could use perkins est, because that is what i have .on hand..i am fitting the engine in a old massey ferguson 500 series.

Do you have a Serial Number for the C4.4 engine.? I could look up the electrical schematic and maybe get some idea what communication protocol the electrical system uses.

i have the arrangement number 242-1346. But need to chech the serial number

So that engine arrangement was only ever used an M313D wheeled excavator. It produces 137 BHP @ 2000 RPM. I would need a Serial Number to obtain more detailed information.

Ok i Will have a look at the engine, to see if i find the sn

It should be on the data plate right next to the Arrangement Number.

Please tell us what you are up to? Im guessing you fitting an electronic engine in place of a mechanical engine? Sounds like an interesting project.

I'll take a look at the electrical system and see if I can find any information regarding the ECM communication protocol. Check your message inbox. EDIT: Are you using the ECM that came with the engine when it was installed in the excavator.? If so you might be up against a problem because in its former use there were other ECMs with which the Engine ECM interacted. No communication with those other ECMs could flag up all sorts of Codes. Also if the duty cycle of the engine in its new application is different to the excavator where basically the engine runs at a pretty much set speed and the hydraulic system (via the Implement ECM) has a major input into the engine performance, you might find all sorts of issues trying to get the engine to perform on a variable duty cycle as an engine in a tractor.

Perkins est will not connect with Cat engines . Even though the software looks the same .

I have learned that by now.. have now installed a ecm from a ** 5460 12v ecm. Installed software and fired it up. Everything works
