Pond cleanup

We're cleaning a sludge pond, soup about 2' deep, sand bottom, went pretty good today, the fella that usually runs the grader is on the hoe and doing a fine job. We dug a hole to load the hoe out of the D6 keeps it full. Trucks on high ground making a 1/2 mile haul one way.

That looks like some of my farm pond cleaning projects except the hoe is usually setting up on the benched out bank and throwing the slop over the back of the dam.Start at one side the work our way across the pond. As we go we reface the front slope of the dam with good clay when the hoe gets behind cleaning.Thats where a ditch cleaning bucket comes in better then the tooth buckets.Takes a wider bite and less slop running around the edge of the bucket. At that time i had a Cat 225 with a Balderson 72" bucket on the machine worked great. At 2' deep that helps ,when you get in to the 6' deep on up it get tricker and no hard bottom. It is amazing tho how hard the bottom is in some of the ponds when you get the slop cleaned out. The bad part is where you have to try and push the slop very far with the dozer,it keeps running around the edge of the blade after a short distance. Then you tracks are having to run through the slop all the time, where as if you could move across the pond as you cleaned, the dozer could be keep on cleaner ground and not have to deal with the slop so much. Looks good! Well maybe not so good? It's a dirty job ,but someone has too do it.Good luck

Isn't that what all those infomercials on at night are supposed to do for you?
