Take me with you! Best of luck to you Crowbar! I go there Skiing virtually every year and have travelled around by car and RV in the summers. The people are fantastic and the scenery is amazing. I,ve always fancied getting over there, but is the grass really any greener? The reality of working in Canada would involve as much red tape and hassle just to survive that we get here i'm certain, only thing is we can,t go Snowmobiling over here! I'd still give it a go if i got the chance though!
It's Gonna be pretty difficult to get here. The best method is to obtain a job offer from an employer then have them do an LMO (Labour Market Opinion). Using the Skilled Immigration Method can take up to 48 month and cost a few thousand. Where are you going to move? BC? Alberta? etc. The best thing you can do is come here on holiday and go job hunting. Decide where you want to live. Get an idea of what the place is like. It's certainly no walk in the park. If you come to BC (Rockie's) then you will have to deal with ICBC, You wont be able to get credit until you have the Residency cards, etc etc P.M me if you have any questions Ross
Hey crowbar, are you looking to go out in the bush/oilpatch or some thing in town or out in the oilsands? Just curious, trying to help. Matt
crowbar im from new hampshire over in the states and i just got a job out in B.C. pushing out a road for the trucks to get in to a oil landing my uncles out thier now he got me the job. but i hear alot about guy that just upo a leave to fort mcmurry and make thier money. oh check out canadian job ban.ca if u havent seen it yet
cheers guys i am willing to go any where alberta bc it desnt matter as long as the beer is cold and the gals are pretty ! i know it makes sense comming out ther for a holiday but id have to come strait back to england to apply for a visa so if i could get an offer whilst im still in the uk it would save me alot of time and money. i really dont mind what sort of wok it is ( oil sands road construction housing development ) i just need a new adventure .im a single guy so if any of you have a pretty sister that wants a hard working mant let me know!
Dont wanna burst you bubble mate but the Canadian Gov are Brutal. You will need to come over and get the job offer, then its up to the company to apply for an LMO. The LMO's are running at 24 weeks out of Vancover. Once this is approved then its a waiting game. I moved out to BC from England a while ago and know all about the process. Also, Dont forget the weather's Brutal here. Hope you like shovling Snow! Ross
cheers for the reply ross but the snow or the waiting wont put me off. im working away down great yarmouth at the mo earning good money the beach is a stones throw away from my digs and theres plenty to look at in the evenings if you know what i mean but id leave it all tomorow if i got an offer !
Hey There Crowbar, I'll tell you what: there's plenty of work in Alberta, especially for a good hand. I have a good friend, as well as a good customer, up there that is involved in the wholesale parts business. Pack your bags, make the move, and go seek out a good company to work for up there. Hell, Tim Hortons Coffee Shops are paying $16CDN/HR. for clerks, up there, because everybody is headed to the Oil Patch and Tar Sands area for work. Don't know this for fact but this is what I am told. You can't roast a turkey from the Living Room and you won't get a job in Alberta from the UK! :Banghead Get on the Bus, Gus and get you're arse over here! :drinkup Fuel costs are going nuts over here, but its still cheaper than in Europe. All the Best to You!
I am new here, If some of you have wondered over to the red power site you know who I am, I Am looking for some way to make a ton of cash, and move back to the black hole,(Michigian). Crowbar It is kinda daunting task. Does any one know If Barret paving is still looking for help, I heard they started up last year and were offering a nice little bonous.
Hey Crowbar. I might be at Calgary Airport on the 27th of June. If you wanna lift somewere. I will be heading South West. It dont matter if you could turn water into wine. I wouldnt hope on being here before the year's end. Its a long process. Why dont you apply for a working Holiday VISA for Pome'y land. Only takes a week to process and costs £90 Ross
Canada Eh? If you are coming to Canada to work in the 'patch then you need to prepare to take 4 courses : TDG - Transportation of Dangerous Goods WHMIS - Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System First Aid H2S Alive Without these 4, employers will not even consider your application.
