Replacing glass in a Galion t-500

I need to replace the front windshield and upper side door glass on my grader. I am wondering if anyone has any tips for removing the existing cracked glass without breaking it up to the point I couldn't use it as a pattern. Thanks in advance Rick

I've covered one with duct tape, then taped cardboard to the glass/duct tape. Two strips of carboard side by side(1/2 the size of the glass), then one more piece of cardboard, the size of the whole glass. If its bad enough do both sides.

What holds the glass in? Is it the rubber "grommet" style? Over here in 98042, my glass man came out, removed the glass and came back the next day with a new piece. It cost me an extra $100 for the "house call." With the rubber grommet, you just pull the key strip and the glass almost falls out, use a lot of soapy water when you reinstall.

Most of the windows on the equipment we had was laminated glass so it would pretty much hold it self together. Might help to cover both sides with Duct Tape. But for most of our glass work we just called the local "glass guy". They would come out and remove the old glass and cut a new window onsite and install it in short order. One advantage of that if some makes a mistake and breaks it while installing it's on their dime not ours! They were good so that never actually happened!
