Hi Guys, So i had some trouble. To do this do i need to break a link in the track or can i wiggle off the steel tracks with the bucket? Once in there, i assume i just pull out the idler / tension assembly and disassemble. Any tips appreciated I tried to post photos but the uploaded crashes my browser
Anyway, it was as i thought, here are some photos for those who might find it useful in the future. The 'kingpin' for the track (the easy one to open) was quite worn but seemed ok for now. but there wasnt a pin on the other side. What style pin do they use as standard? For the positioning of where to open it, i think i got the track in about the right place, so that just enough of the track was rolled down. Tomorrow we'll try and find a set of bearings in town once we've pressed the axle out of the mounts. Do excavators need special spec bearings for the tracks, or will a standard one for an engine be ok?
Oh, and this is day 3 of owning an excavator, lots of fun!
Got it back together today, then when adjusting tension noticed that all 4 rollers in between have broken bearings as well, so tomorrow morning i get to open it all up again!
You should have this thing in tip top shape by the time your done with it.
