just looking at Ritchie Bros current sales, if get a chance check out the D8R Lot #179 in the St. Louis Auction. I have never seen such a "V" blade on a dozer, that would do some serious damage to whatever it was intended for. https://www.rbauction.com/2001-CATE...vId=9579522&id=ci&auction=ST-LOUIS-MO-2016215
There was a contractor for Weyerhaeuser up here that had a blade like that on a D6C some years ago. He would go into a clear cut area and windrow the debris. The V would actually cut off some of the stumps at ground level. All this was supposed to provide an easier job a replanting and a faster regrowth. The machine went away when the small excavators with thumbs were tried and they worked a lot better at piling and they damaged the ground a whole lot less.
Here's a brush blade that is more than 60 years old. It was fitted to a machine in the 50's. The picture does not do it justice. It was used on a D7 sized machine, fitted to the front on the blade, and held up well according to the owner. It was used for clearing pasture for grazing.
^^^ I know where that is^^^
In East Texas taxes are high for timberland. After logging, lot's of people use that kind of blade to convert stumps into ranch land and lower taxes.
Then you know it's not for sale. LOL A great collection there.
That particular D8R left the factory equipped with an SU blade with trash screens on top of it, ROPS mounted a/c, and a waste handling arrangement. So it looks like it spent the first part of its life on a landfill. I'm a bit leery about how the blade is connected without using a taglink like a normal tractor. The side loads into the tractor undercarriage and frames caused by forces from the blade must be wicked......
Yes it is. Worth the $.50 admission. lol
He is a class act to. We need more like him.
The " brush blade " attachment looks interesting old-iron . Would like a small version for the skid loader & farm tractor . Rockland & Rome offer the V plow blades . http://www.rocklandmfg.com/index.php?page=dozer-clearing-blades http://www.romeplow.com/equipment/specialty-equipment/rv-series/ Members 69camaro & ETMF 58 White use them . This company makes one very similar to what old-iron-habit posted . http://www.theperfecttreesaw.com/index.html Looks like they have a wide size range of them . https://siekersales.com/the-perfect-tree-saw/
I suppose the patients have run out on the original one eh. They would be real handy on a D4D sized machine.
Was thinking the same thing old-iron . Land owner with a smaller dozer , skid loader , or compact tractor with that attachment would be pretty handy for hackin unwanted trees & bush . Might even be good entertainment gift for an old retired guy? The Old Man would probably love it .:Cowboy Keep him busy hackin bush in the pasture & off job sites . LOL! That's the Old Man , gotta love him .
Their version for an ATV looks interesting....that's about the size of cedar trees I continually have to deal with. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NRj14_sxBlY
That looks like a good way to face plant off the quad. That 8 ended up going for $70K plus fees. Who knows how much of a basket case it was being at RB... Greyson
Why would it be a basket case because it was at an RB auction? They sell a lot of equipment in every state of repair from worn out to unused.
LOL ! That cat looked like he was enjoying it . I'm the same way hackin & stackin trees with the K/G blade . From what I can tell it looks like a quality built product with saw teeth welded to the blade edge . Now they don't give them away cheap but if the landowner has already dropped say 8 to 10 K on an ATV or 20 K on a compact tractor ? What's another $ 1800.00 to $ 4,000 if it works well for the job at hand ? I would imagine the way it cuts there is less stress on the tractor unit verses grubbing it out ? https://newagsupply.com/collections/all/attachments
