The AKDOT&PF is resurfacing both Knik River bridge decks this season. They will move traffic to one bridge while the other bridge is fixed, totally messing up the only N/S route in the state. During a predicted record breaking tourista season. But, check this out! The first ever Road Zipper in AK arrived! Ever see one of these? It will be used to move the jersey barriers for reversible lanes. The DOT and Hamilton was practicing with it today.
Yeah I've seen these in the equipment magazines and in videos but never in person. Pretty damn slick invention IMO.
The concrete barriers look to be specifically designed.
Yes, i saw that featured years ago on some large bridge maybe NYC where they moved it twice a day.
Very neat but the music sucks.
Yes, they have one just south of Boston on 93 and they use it every day. It’s pretty cool and loud to se it in person. Unfortunately, that experience has happened many times, sitting in traffic in either direction, south of Boston. They have been using it for about 15 years and you can see where they have to replace the blocks, for some reason or other.
