Robot Compact Loader Question

Hi, Just wondering if there is any interest in a robot compact loader? You can run multiple robots by themselves. They can haul, trench or cover an area with an attachment. If you needed to drill post holes around a property it could go out and dig the holes. How would you use it? Thanks, Matt

I dont believe that you could subsitute a robot for a real person. I have seen TV shows where they have robots using excavators. Yes it can work in a very controlled way. But for a robot to do a simple task such as drill post holes without someone there controlling it would be near impossible in my opinion. First need to somehow tell it where to drill the holes, so something such as gps would be needed to tell it where the holes are. Then what if it hits a giant rock, its going to try to keep drilling and drilling, could end up breaking the machine. Then how does it know how deep to drill the hole. How does a robot know when a hydraulic line breaks? What about if there is a mud hole it drives through and gets stuck, wont know the machine isn't going anywhere anymore. That is all my questions just for doing a simple task of drilling holes. In my opinon there is no way you can replace a operator with a robot without it being controlled by a human 100% of the time. So then whats the sense of the robot if you can't replace the operator. And I have seen that big cat dozers can be run by remote, but thats not even close to being a robot. The only thing Iwould use a robot for is to grease it and clean my tracks at the end of the day.

Again like eric said... While robots are excellent at doing identical repetitive function tasks, they cannot do anything other than what they are programed to do. Hydraulic line failure, mud, or other un-forseens like a tree has fallen and blocks the path, or someone parked a vehicle in the way really upset them. The best use that I have seen for them is in a mile operating the haul trucks, but safety concerns has no allowed that yet, to my knowledge. Bobcat does offer a remote control kit though.

Good points. They do know when they are stuck and can stop for obstacles. They can't remove the obstacle though. It would need to be a basic repetitive function.
