Found this little guy right smack dab in the center of where a pool should be... thoughts on best way to remove?
Leave it there as a feature and widen the pool around it.
Get a bigger shovel? Get a breaker for the shovel you've got? Drill holes and use Dexpan? Manual labourers and pick axes? Get a crane and some chains and lift it out? Though that last one is probably the most expensive option
Looks like Space Odyssey 2022. Sell tickets.
Rent a breaker, split it in 2. Your skid loader should move it then.
rinse it off, drain the water, build a fire around it, quench occasionally until it's in manageable pieces.
Rock drill, 1-1/2 bit and Dexpan or other brand of non-explosive blasting mix. I cut out a custom fire pit into 3' of Maine granite with this method. Works great! Don't forget your dust mask, safety glasses and ear plugs for this stuff.
Yep, leaning toward the Dexpan at this point. Trouble is the thing just keeps going down further I dig. Water table is crazy high here too considering it’s a drought in NorCal!
Dexpan? If you are going to drill holes in a rock, just shove some wedges in the holes and swing a hammer.
I'd say it depends what the customer wants to do with it, do they want the thing gone or just out of the way? No sense doing anything but breaking it up as it sits if it's going to be hauled away, if just moving it and you have the room to get in, a bigger piece of iron would probably be the quickest to move it.
Dig on the side of it till you hit china or the bottom, dig bigger hole and roll it in, cover up compacting along the way.
Kidding aside, here's the problem rock that lurked beneath the area next to the garage. A Makita HR5212C and a SDS-Max 24 x 1½ inch bit punched the holes. Dexpan did the busting. Repeat the process until the pieces are of a manageable size.
There is nothing that can't be resolved by the use of high explosives On side note my Cat 977K could of picked it up like a pebble and moved it.
