It will take some time to get an answer sometimes basil. In this case, im not sure of many guys here with jcb equipment. It is not a popular demand in my area, and im sure its the same across much of the US.

Never seen or heard of a two speed rockbreaker, they all work pretty much the same way, using the auxiliary hydraulics, which come with single speed only. You can vary the speed of the breaker with engine revolutions and it is advised to warm the breaker up by using it with low engine revolutions for a while and then gradually increasing engine revolutions until the breaker is warmed up. If the breaker feels slow it may have a problem, such as low nitrogen charge, or the excavator hydraulics have a problem.

The only thing I can think of that may be lost in each version of the english language used here, is the hydraulic speed settings on the machine itself. I cant say for sure on the JCB machines, but the latest Komatsu pc300-7 I ran had different settings set from the computer on the machine. It had different gpm settings for the auxiliary hydraulics. The machine had a thumb, and had a thumb setting. It was at 46gpm if memory serves me right. The hammer setting was 58gpm, again, going off memory.

Also consider that some hammer models have an adjustment on them to change from a long stroke with less blows per minute for things like hard rock, or a shorter stroke, with more blows per minute, for things like concrete. On my Kent 30G it is adjustable with an allen wrench and a locking nut on the side or back of the hammer body. Allowsd you to tune in to the material you are working.

my last machine was a JCB 3CX fitted with a Montebert hammer/rockbreaker.There is no way to change the speed of the hammer. The hammer is designed to work at normal working engine speeds.Always keep the hammer steel well greased with the recommended grease. I liked the Montebert because the steel is thick and easy to use when breaking reinforced concrete.(the Montebert is sold by other names in different countries,Tramac is one name I think )
